Of Steak, Parents, and Alarms

This weekend saw me making a trip to Wichita Falls to see my mom for her
birthday. I took her to McBride's steak house. The steak there was
pretty good. You know I am famous for being a hamburger connoisseur but
I also know my steaks. This was a pretty good steak. I would give it a 9
out of 10. Sometimes I am pleasantly surprised by some of the small
steak houses in Texas. I remember when I was at Tech there was a little
restaurant in Guthrie, Texas halfway between Wichita Falls and Lubbock
that had the best steak around. It was next to the famous "6666" ranch
and I am sure that whenever someone ordered a steak they had a cow out
back to slaughter. It was the cheapest best steak at $8 for a rib eye.
The best steak in Texas IMO is a $50 steak at 3 Forks. I had a rib eye
there one time that was like eating butter, and you know how much I like
butter. In other news I did a "Meet the Parents" this Friday with my
girlfriends mom. She was nice and they cooked meatloaf, which I enjoyed.
I brought them both flowers as well ;-) I then watched "Walk the Line".
It was pretty good although the whole time I kept on thinking "When are
they going to bring up the 'Ring of Fire' song." It was slow in parts
but I do like movies about musicians. I know I can never be a famous
musician cause I don't have a drug habit. I suppose that happens after
you become famous. In other news my wakeup calls have now finished.
Peety got an email from his boss on Friday that said "You are on our top
5 list of phone calls. You talked for 6.5 hours to this number this
month." and it was my number. So no more calls from Peety. Keeping in
mind that I need a wakeup call I signed on to iping.com. Basically you
get setup and can specify what is on the wakeup call. Right now I have
the theme song from Happy Days waking me up. I am sure to have that song
memorized by the end of the month. The problem is that the computer on
the other end doesn't know if I am dozing. I guess I'll find out if it
works. So far so good. So how was your weekend?

Thought of the Day
"How do you oversleep at the Olympics?"
"Oh, I know. I know."
"I mean, it's like the biggest event of your life! You'd think you'd
have, like, six alarm clocks, paying off little kids in the village to
come banging on your door."
- Jerry and Elaine, in "The Hot Tub"

Comments:
Luckily, nothing more has been said about the massive amount of phone calls to Brian's address from "The Man." One thing is definately for sure....Big Brother is watching.
Our weekend was OK. On Friday night, the wife, the daughter, and I walked over to a local Italian restaurant since the weather was so nice. The wife spent the rest of the evening doing homework, so I must have done something else...although I have no idea what it was. On Saturday, we went to Walmart. The wife and I went halfsees on a portable DVD player for the car. It makes traveling with the kido much easier. I also saw more of the little, Star Wars, titanium ships that I like. I was gonna pass on them, but then thought, "If Mr. T can spend $100 on Star Trek carpet, I can spend $20 on Star Wars ships." After Wal-mart, the 3 of us went to Joe's Crab Shack. I had to get the shrimp special that's being advertised on TV. I'd love to go there on the occassional Thursday night, but I doubt there's any amount of hypnosis for Brian to eat seafood. On Saturday night, we watched Survivor from Thurs. Afterwards, the wife did more homework and I watched half of Saturday Night Live..hosted by Natalie Portman. I was watching for the obvious Star Wars jokes, which they did during the opening monologue. On Sunday, we drove 3 hours to go to my Grandfathers 89th birthday party....hence the DVD player. It was a pretty good trip. We had BBQ for lunch and enjoyed visiting with everyone. My grandfathers house is out in the country, so seeing snakes is not uncommon. To make a long story shorter. We killed 7 rattle snakes. There must be a den of them under the house. The scary part is that they were discovered by my newphew Evan (4 years old) and another cousin who is 8 or 9 years old. I'm glad they didn't try to pick up the snakes or anything like that. We got home around 6PM and just did the normal Sunday night stuff.
A co-worker of mine has a deaf roomate, so I asked him how his roomate wakes up on time every morning. Apparently, there are alarm clocks that come with a pad you put under your sheets. When it's time to wake up, the bed starts vibrating. You may wanna get online and see where you can get one. I will miss our morning conversations, though.
Speaking of your Steak dinner, Are we going to a steak house for your quarterly meeting? Hve a good Monday, everyone.
Peety

It's weird.. I kept checking the blog all day yesterday and nothing. I then notice that Peety was able to post at a little after noon. Weird!

The weekend was nothing to exciting. On Saturday the Mrs and I raked up leaves in our backyard most of the afternoon since it was kind of cool outside and not 100 degrees (yet). Sunday, my dad and step-mom watched Ethan for us for a couple of hours, so the Mrs and I went to Red Lobster for Lobster Lover's Fest. It was pretty darn tasty. I do believe you are right though Peety about there not being enough hypnosis to get Brian to eat seafood. Were you a little nervous Peety about "The Man" watching over you? Did it come out of left field? Did they give you a cease and decist letter? IS Brian's number long distance or something? If local number, who monitors local numbers? I have to call Germany all the time from work, granted it is for work purposes and not a wake-up alarm. So where are we having the quarterly meeting at Brian?
