Does Superman Pay Child Support?
I saw Superman Returns last night and shall now give a review with some
spoilers thrown in. I was a little tired so I couldn't get into it as
well(I'm going to a sleep doctor eventually). The story is of course,
Superman. It was pretty good, however they had some issues, but
nevertheless it was better than X-Men. There were 3 separate plots to
the movie which made it better. I liked the special effects, some of
which was hard to distinguish from the real stuff. The bullet hitting
Superman's eyeball and bouncing off was pretty cool. One of the side
stories deals with Luis Lane's child. Apparently he is "super" and human
at the same time. At the beginning of the movie it was said how Superman
was gone for 5 years to find Krypton. Also, it alludes to the fact that
Superman must have done the deed with Louis in a previous movie. So now
that Superman is back he has a kid, but I was thinking about all of the
stuff that Louis had to go through when Superman was gone and makes me
think was Superman really that super to leave her? Apparently he had
feelings for her and did the deed and all so they were like a couple.
Then he doesn't tell her he is leaving and just goes and they all make
up some corny thing like "it was too hard to say goodbye so I didn't".
If I was Louis Lane I'd be pissed. The rest of the movie had good
action, however I think I fell asleep when the climactic action took
place, so it must've not been that exciting. I awoke when they were
resolving the story for the last half hour. The biggest gripe has to be
that it was 2 1/2 hours long. Ironically, it will probably win the award
for best editing. Something interesting happened at the beginning. There
was a scene in which 2 dogs were in Lex's mansion and then it shows a
scene where the one dog is licking his lips and dog bones are next to it
and someone says," Weren't there two dogs". Right then an old couple
left the movie theater, never to return. I wasn't as offended but I
could see how it was inappropriate. I was like, why add that to the
movie, just to gross people out? I felt sorry for the couple leaving the
theater as they missed a pretty good movie just because of one scene.
Anyways, I still recommend this movie. It will probably be the best
movie of the summer.
Thought of the Day
"He's reliable. He's considerate. He's like your exact opposite."
"So he's Bizarro Jerry."
"Bizarro Jerry?"
"Yeah, like Bizarro Superman, Superman's exact opposite, who lives in
the backwards Bizarro world. Up is down, down is up, he says hello when
he leaves, goodbye when he arrives."
"Shouldn't he say badbye? Isn't that the opposite of goodbye?"
"No, it's still goodbye."
"Does he live underwater?"
"No."
"Is he black?"
"Look, just forget the whole thing."
- Elaine and Jerry, in "The Bizarro Jerry"
I can clear some of this up for you. In Superman II, Lois and Superman have sex. Actually, it's right after Supes gives up his powers in the Fortress of Solitude. The ghost of Supes mom tells Kal-el that if he wants to be with a mortal, he must live as a mortal. He then goes inside the antichamber which takes away his powers forever (yeah, right). Immediately after that, Clark and Lois exchange some romantic chit chat and go off to bed. There's even the after sex scene which shows them asleep in bed. Why weren't they freezing to death? Anyway, just watch Superman II to see this. My question is, did they ever have sex again? At the end of Superman II, Supes gives Lois a magic kiss and she forgets most of the movie's events. So, did they do the super deed again, or did Lois walk around wondering how she got pregnant?
As for your other comment saying Lois should be pissed at him for leaving....I'd say it was very obvious that she was pissed at him.
I liked the movie, but agree it was too long.
