Singing into a Flashlight
Is it just me or does it feel like time is going faster and faster? I
think we are all in some kind of twilight zone thingy. People also seem
to be crazier in these years than all others as well. Or maybe that is
me? Two weeks ago when I stopped to get gas(corner of Josey and Trinity
Mills) there was this guy screaming on the street corner into his
flashlight. He would do Elvis poses and spins and finger points. Kind of
reminded me of me in junior high school - Bassdancing. Except of course
he is 21 and is listening to his ipod and screaming lyrics at cars while
holding a metal flashlight. Yesterday I stopped to get gas at the same
station and saw him again on the corner doing the same thing. I think he
was singing Metallica's Nothing Else Matters. It was hard to hear him
due to the traffic noise and my ears. I get checked tomorrow to see if
my ears have recovered from scuba diving. Anyway, the funniest thing had
to be when he would spin and raise and point his flashlight like it was
a microphone. Some people in cars passing by lower their windows and
scream "woo!" at him. If this were Seattle or some other cool place I
can see it as an everyday kind of thing, but it is 95 degrees outside
and everyone drives their cars so there is no foot traffic where he is
performing. I think it must be some kind of project or something. Like
when he gets in front of class his teacher says,"What did you do this
summer?" "I stood on the street corner and sang Metallica into a
flashlight, every day, dude." Or maybe I am in the twilight zone. Let's
hope I don't break my glasses. Wait a minute, I'm not wearing glasses...
Thought of the Day
Uncle Rico: Kip, I reckon... you know a lot about... cyberspace? You
ever come across anything... like time travel?
Kip: Easy, I've already looked into it for myself.
Uncle Rico: Right on... right on.
