Try a Smoothie in Alaska
Well, I am going to an interesting restaurant tonight. In Dallas they
have this place called "Medieval Times". You basically sit down, eat and
watch real live jousting and sword fighting. It should be cool. Dallas
definitely has their share of theme restaurants. Years ago I went to the
"Magic Time Machine". It was a restaurant where the waiters dressed up
in costumes and generally tried to embarrass the patrons. Whatever you
do, don't ask where the restroom is. They will announce it to the
restaurant "Everyone Brian has to go potty! Does anyone else have to go?
If so, all aboard the potty train toot toot!" Then you all get in a line
and follow the waiter to the restroom. Then when you get back they ask
you what color was the soap to see if you washed your hands. Another
theme restaurant is Dick's Last Resort in downtown Dallas. The theme of
this restaurant is to insult you. You go in and they are like,"what do
you want? Hey someone here doesn't know what they want!" and various
comments get thrown around. Then there was "Jeckl and Hyde's" place.
They had a scary theme and the waiters dressed up like vampires and
mummies. Also, the food was labeled "the vampire burger" and such. In
that same mall was a rainforest theme restaurant where there are trees
and waterfalls. Cruiser's is a new one that just opened up in Frisco,
but it is really just a car theme throughout the restaurant. The one
thing about all of the theme restaurants I have been to has been their
food is of normal quality. The thing is you end up paying much higher
rates for the ambience, which in some cases is worth it. Also, has
anyone noticed the abundance of frozen custard places around here? They
are popping up all over the place. I tried one the other night. It was
pretty good, but in the back of my mind it was just like eating melted
ice cream. It also goes with those smoothie places that are popping up
as well. I think I'll start a smoothie/ice cream place and take over the
Dallas market. It's got to have a theme. How about Alaska. I'll make it
snow inside the restaurant and give people jackets as they come in the
store. Yeah, A smoothie/ice cream store called "Alaska", coming to a
street corner near you.
