She a Little Bit Country, I'm a Little Bit Rock-n-Roll

And now for the weekend update. This weekend I was a nitty gritty Texan.
Since I had Friday off I went to Wichita and met Holly there. She was in
town for a science teacher convention. I took mom grocery shopping and
the like. Then I went with Holly to the local high school football game.
If you have ever seen Friday Night Lights it is very true to life as to
what high school football is to Texas. This game was for the city name -
Old High vs. Rider High(my alma mater). There were even kids vandalizing
cars and stuff because they were crazy. Rider won the game like 46 to
17. As part of the Texas tradition the weather changed 30 degrees when
we were at the football game. It went from the 60s to the 30s during
that period. Everyone left in the fourth quarter because of the cold. We
then went to the local hangout, IHOP, and noticed how everyone in town
was there on a Friday night at 11pm. Holly and I have a habit of
slipping past all of the groups waiting in line to get a table. It
happens cause we are only 2 people and get a table for two a lot
quicker. Saturday I got mom setup with a mom-cam so I can check in on her
every now and then. Saturday night we went back to Dallas and went to
Gilly's Country Bar. I saw Holly ride a bull and last like 12 seconds,
of course it ended up with her being thrown off and losing her shoes. We
also did the Texas Two step and she tried to teach me the waltz. I am a
bit of a bumbler as my center of gravity is above my head. I even wore a
Stetson cowboy hat and one of Pepper's old shirts. I had it all down
except for the jogging shoes. Sunday I did the usual and finished the
evening watching a DiscoveryHD show about a tribe living in the
mountains of Africa. Apparently the men like their married women fat and
put them in a fattening hut before they are to married. After months
they come out of the hut and are round. They are all arranged marriages
even though they are born-again Christians. It was wild and got me
thinking how we should all be fat and have arranged marriages - not. How
was your weekend?

Let's see, Friday night, the wife, daughter, and myself had dinner at the little Italian place around the corner. After that, we went to Walmart, then picked up our family Christmas pictures. I spent most of the ramaining night playing X-Box. I had to work on Saturday morning, so I didn't make it a late night. Work wasn't too painful. They basically paid me to listen to music. Saturday afternoon, we did the usual weekend stuff (laundry, cleaning, and such.) On Saturday night, I watched Episode 1 with Brian's internet commentary MP3. It was pretty funny in a few places. Sunday was the usual. The weird thing about the weekend was that most of our lightbulbs went out at one time or another. It seemed like I spent most of Sunday changing bulbs. I suppose the next time they go out, they'll still go out at the same time.

Friday I went out with my class for a girl's birthday party. My budget is blown for the week as it was a dinner at Cantina Laredo-a high end Mexican restaurant. I tell you, with Mexican food it just doesnt matter on the price it all tastes pretty much the same.... On Saturday, I spent all day helping my friends Chris and Nelly move apartments. We didnt have a whole lot of help loading stff but several others shwed up to help unload. I was pretty soar by the end of the afternoon. But that was his one free move - everyone gets one from me (I dont think I have anymore friends on the list to move so I think I'm free for a while!) That evening I watched the Tech game and continued painting my house. I have two and half more rooms to go. It takes a lot t move all this furniture around by myself. On Sunday my DallasOne team visited First Baptist of Dallas. There were very few people there due to thir largest Sunday school class being on a retreat. I can really see the spiritual warfare going on with D1. It seems that our group is very often thwarted by situations like that.... I went back to Pwood afterwards to attend my class and itwas good. At lunch all craziness broke loose. On the way in to lunch, Stacy's sister had a siezure. She blacked out and fell face first on the concrete. Her glsses cut right into her head and blood was running everywhere. So an ambulance was called and Stacy and I gathered up the kids and drove to te emergency room. So yada yada we spent the afternoon caring for the kids along with Stacy's dad and Josh Smith. Danielle ended taking 14 stitches along the eye but the cat scans all looked ok. I definetely got a glimps into fatherhood. For the first couple of hours when it was just Stace and me, those two kids kept us on our toes every second. I so admire Stacy for her ability to cope with the situation. She is so going to make a wonderful mother some day. So have rambled on long enough. Pray for Danielle's healing and Stacy's new job.
