All I want for Christmas is to carpool

Well I had my board meeting last night. My site is nearing beta stage.
I am currently on track. It is exciting. I feel like I used to when my
band would put on a good show, all happy and satisfied. I am now a
completely driven man and I am sure my wife will attest to that. BTW,
if anyone wonders what to get me for Christmas, I only want 1 thing:
go to ridesearch.com and click on donate or buy a book from there or
buy a ridesearch t-shirt from our online store. I will use all
proceeds towards marketing. It's gonna be good!

Thanksgiving Update

Well, our first thanksgiving was good, and a little bad. The bad part
was that Holly was getting over a kidney infection she had since
Monday. So we didn't do the Turkey Trot - a 30,000 people race in
downtown Dallas. The good part was the food and the football and
Holly's family stopped by to have our delicious 20 pound turkey. We
watched the Cowboys demolish an opponent and had a good time. It was
the first time for me to carve the turkey, but it turned out well. We
ended the evening watching Independance Day. Holly is getting better
and doesn't have a fever and shaking like she did last week. It was
kind of weird having 16 people over. My family has been dwindling
these past 4 years and now that I am married it has grown
tremendously. All in all, it was relaxing and filling - just what a
Thanksgiving should be.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well I am busy as I only get Thursday off. I am scheduled to do 3
things. 1. Holly's tradition of running 3 miles in downtown Dallas at
9 AM in the morning. It is called the "Turkey Trot" and I am the
turkey. 2. Eating Turkey prepared by Holly, her mom and my mom. Should
be yummy. 3. Watch the Dallas Cowboys annihilate another opponent. Too
bad I have to go to work on Friday. I am already stuffed from eating
at out pot luck lunch at work today. I have so much to be thankful for
it is overwhelming. It seems like every year God puts more and more
blessings on my plate. It is all Him. I am most thankful for my new
wife! She is my turkey leg and Cowboy game rolled into one :) Have a
good Thanksgiving everyone! Be safe in your travels if you are going
out of town.

The Wedding Ring Incident

So there I am, at work yesterday morning. I sit down at my desk and
pull out my cell phone and notice that my left hand feels a little
lighter. I then notice that something is missing, my wedding ring. I
am like where oh where can it be? So I develop a game plan. It had to
be in the car or in the garage or in the house. I get home from work
and Holly is making me spagetti and chicken(a Kansas dish) and is like
- what is wrong? I then tell her about the incident and she is worried
to. So I start to narrow down places. The rule of thumb in looking for
things is to know where it isn't and then what is left should be where
it is. I was about to move all of the boxes in the garage around when
Holly is like "dinner time!" So I go in and vent. Meanwhile Holly is
telling me - have you looked everywhere? Maybe it is right under your
nose. And I am still distressing over where to look next. Finally at
the end of the meal I reach for the napkin and notice my ring has made
a lovely napkin holder. Apparently she had found it on the floor in
the bedroom. Whew, crisis averted... Even though I gained 15 pounds it
is all in my belly as my ring is a little loose. Glad I found it. I'm
taking her someplace nice tonight. Have a good weekend!

Ridesearch is not a ripoff

Hmm, what to talk about. I've been thinking about the future and my
personal blog. It is very likely that we will get a lot of visitors
here of people googling the word ridesearch. I have accepted that a
press release will get a lot of people reading these pages, which
while personal are mostly boring egotistical stuff. So be it. I've
googled ridesearch and have found that the person who owned the domain
ran a scam site back in 2001 and his negative result is right under
mine. Rest assured people that was not me. Matter of fact I paid $2000
for the ridesearch domain 2 years ago so I guess the previous owner
got what he wanted.. That tells you how serious I am about this. I
just had to have it. Although I sometimes hear people call it
"rideshare.com" so I know I really need to stress the "search" part
when I market it. Anyways all is good. My brain has been working
nonstop. Thanksgiving should be relaxing. What's up with you? I hear
I-35 is shut down right now. Smallville is going downhill. The Cowboys
are going to win the superbowl. Ok, enough banter...

Alrighty Then. I'm Back

Well, my blog has had some ups and downs and now it should be one continous up, 99.99% of the time. I am back on BrianAldenBass.com or BrianBass.net. Whatever you prefer. The great thing is I don't have to worry about the power going out or some other server problem. I have pretty much been working 15 hour days - 10 at work and 5 at home. I am definitely going to need a vacation at the end of the year, but it is going to be worth it. This is something I really believe in, so I must finish my site.
In other news I went to the Docs last Friday for a checkup. The doc looked at me and looked at my chart and said "you've gained 15 pounds since you've been married." I am like, wow. So I am back on the ole health kick. This time I am going to my core psychological roots of my eating habits, primarily lack of self control with food and a hatred of exercise. I haven't even chosen a "diet" I am just eating less and am trying to get some exercise in when I can. We are going back to our personal trainer and I got a pedal machine for the chair in the living room while I code. I don't even want to think of this as a kick or a diet or a new fad. It is just an attitude I am trying to put on of being healthy. We shall see. So what is up with all my friends?

Update Number 2

Ok, I have had server problems, so I got tired of it and moved to a secure dedicated server hosted somewhere in new mexico. The site should be more stable...Unfortunately after I moved and paid, I discovered that blogger has a problem with active ftp and the server that I moved to only has that. So I am in a conundrum right now as to what to do. I've got a support ticket open with the server people so we will see what happens. For now I have moved to bloggers site and the url brianaldenbass.com should now be forwarding you to

http://brianaldenbass.blogspot.com/

We shall see how long this lasts. Luckily it is up while I solve this problem. So I should still start updating it. Even though, I have been super duper busy as I have been working nights and weekends on ridesearhc. For the guys night people, I will have a board meeting at the end of the month at rafain's. That should be enjoyable. We may go over what I have accomplished.

testing

testing.. I have moved my server to a dedicated server... this should be displayed. hmm..
Let's try it again

Update

So what's up with me? This weekend I went to Wichita to visit mom and
get her oil changed and get groceries. She is doing the same, which I
guess is a good thing. On Saturday we went to wedding number 7 of the
year. I am now an expert at weddings. The cake and food are the best
parts. On Sunday I did the message at the homeless that I will post
eventually. In other news I am now switching my work hours. I am
getting in 9 hour days for every other Friday off. I am getting to
work at 8AM and am leaving at 6. It kinda sucks, but we will see if it
is worth it when I get next Friday off. In other news if you visit
ridesearch.com you will see I have made a promise on the site. In
order to keep this promise all of my evenings will now be taken up by
work until Jan 1st. Sorry guys, but I am tired of not finishing and I
realize I need to make a sacrifice to do it. Quite frankly I am tired
of just talking about it. But once Jan 1st comes I will release what I
have and I am designing it to be self sustaining so I will be able to
start up guys night again. The time to do those things we put off is
now.
