Geeks or Greeks?
Yes, I know, I am a geek. But I think geeks have taken over the world anyways. Holly and I watch The Big Bang Theory every Monday and laugh at their phrases. I catch the Star Wars, LOTR, and Star Trek phrases they say. The sad thing is I understand everything they say. So the new Star Trek movie comes out this weekend. We plan to see it sometime in the future at the IMax theater. That should be cool. I am excited about this one and may see it more than once. I think in terms of how cool it could be it ranks higher than Episode I of Star Wars. We saw an awards show last night talking about how Star Trek influenced NASA and Holly couldn't believe all these astronauts on the stage were glorifying Star Trek. I could because Captain Kirk is pretty cool and the technology that is foreshadowed helped us design things like cell phones. What I am really waiting for is the MMORPG Star Trek Online. You get to be part of an online universe and be captain of a starship. Unfortunately it will probably come out next year, but the previews look pretty cool.
So we watched our Tuesday Night TV shows. Starting with the Biggest Loser. I am tired of seeing all of these recaps of how they lose 150 pounds in 18 weeks. If I worked out 10 hours a day and had a personal trainer I am sure I could do it to. But in reality we all know they gain it back. We are down to the final 4 and I am going for the guys to win. The two girls all seem to have a screw lose. Then we watch American Idol. They are down to the final four as well. I like Danny Gokey the best and Adam Lambert after that. I can picture Adam Lambert in a Queen cover band. He is too far out there for me to want to see in concert though. His style kind of reminds me of Kiss. I was never a fan.
So as to be cool I also watched the Dallas Mavericks and Denver Nuggets playoff game. It looks like Dallas has some problems. They always stay close and in the fourth quarter tend to quit playing. I don't like Dirk because he hasn't been able to win big games. I don't like Denver because they are mostly tattoo'd up. They have a player who wants be Larry Bird so he got tattoos of feathers on his arms and spikes up his hair. I don't like it when they call him Birdman because there is only one Birdman. So even though I am a geek I also dig some sports. I have tried to avoid all labels upon me growing up and have succeeded I think. People think I am a geek and then wham, I put down my star trek toys and play with a football. So maybe I am not a geek after all...
