Yes Virginia, There is Global Warming
It kind of doesn't feel like Christmas this year even though it actually snowed yesterday. Sure I've got the music playing, but we are not decorating the house. I think we are having it at someone else's house this year. Especially since we put our fake tree into storage. I think since we are concentrating on our house that has taken over normal Christmas festivities. We aren't doing much in terms of gifts either because saving for a down payment is part of our plan. However, next week starts the Christmas party season. I think we might have a party on Thursday night, Friday night and Sunday night. So I am not sure about guys night next week. Tonight we are having it for sure. Maybe I can get some guys to help me put up a mirror...
Right now a contractor is finishing up on staining our fence. We need to put it on the market quickly because house values are slowly going down, making it the perfect time to buy but not necessarily time to sell. Online I've noticed some houses drop from 300K to 285K this week. Although I have also noticed the mortgage rates are up a little from their close of a 4.5% low. I am watching those markets steadily. I do wish I wouldn't have to worry about selling our house before buying a new one, but the equity is locked up. I am maybe 65% sure we will be able to do it all. The sooner we can sell the house the better deal we could get on a new one. If we can't sell this month or next month we may have to nix it all, but at least we are already living in a good looking house. So there are pluses to everything.
Other thoughts? Well, I've been thinking about wisdom. Around Texas there is a big, "Global warming doesn't exist and is not man made movement." thing. It kind of reminds me of the same people who told Columbus he was crazy and the world really was flat. The wise thing to do is to follow logic. If all realms of science say that there is a global climate shift and there are no scientific organazations with hard core refutable evidence then the wise conclusion is that global warming is happening. However, on the flipside there really are no wise conclusions because as we learn more we understand more, and a wise man understands how dumb human intellect is. So it seems to me that anyone who doesn't believe in or does believe in global warming has missed the point entirely. It is not something that requires belief. Mathematically the global mean tempurature has increased by 1.36°F over the last one hundred years and the last 50 years it has increased by a higher percentage. Therefore global warming has happened and shows no evidence of stopping. Carbon dioxide expirements and mathematics show evidence that man does contribute to the greenhouse effect. I think maybe people don't want to admit that the world is heating up so ignorance really is bliss, until you get a blister of course.
