Assisting the Living

So, the good news is that mom has accepted she is going to be living somewhere else. I'd like to thank Melinda for breaking the news to her after she got her lab results. She did not like it, but accepted it rather quickly. Right now her labs are mostly normal. She has a little UTI so she is now on antibiotics. On Thursday they go back to Wichita to get her good stuff and do a brain scan on mom. Melinda would like to see the MRI. She could probably go in there and tell all of the other doctors what they are looking at.

It may be that mom has a new place to live by this weekend. I know mom loves her stuff, but as I look at things in perspective, it is really the living room that mom lives in. The rest of the house is never looked at or used. Melinda has been assisted living home shopping these past couple of days. In Dallas it is highly competitive and they all have openings available. The new place will be close to me and Holly. That will mean we can visit more often and take mom to church with us. I think she would like that. Right now mom does not want to go home. I think she loves the attention we are giving her so that has made this transition easier than expected.

Now we have to think about things like finances and medical bills for her. I think she also gets a little something for being the widow of a veteran. Selling her house is going to be a chore and selling some of her bottles will also be a chore. There is so much stuff to do. I think though a majority of stuff we can do after we move to our new home. I only allow 2 to 3 stressful events at a time to happen. Otherwise I just kind of ignore things. So that's the mom situation. I can see the forest through the trees. By this weekend mom may be in a new place, if not our home is her home.
