Basis for Stasis
So I am learning how to save on expenses. It is rather enlightening. Apparently I have been able to get my prescripts from an online ordering company that will send me a three months supply of them for like $300 for 3 months. That is amazing considering I am taking 7 prescripts. I used to pay $300 for one month. Now I am actually saving $200 a month. I am shocked I have not done that before. So if you are like me and get prescripts I would order them through the mail, definitely. We are also learning how to save on things like tolls. At the very beginning of our move we were paying like $40 every week in tolls. Now we are taking side roads. Top off with saving a car payment from my recent fiasco and it is as if our house payment is the same as the old place. We are in financial stasis, I hope. More tests.
At my last doc appointment I got 2 scripts added. He did my lab work and did a detailed blood analysis. Apparently it is official that I have glucose intolerance - a precursor to diabetes. I asked my doctor for something to take for it cause I know the usual "diet and exercise" prescription is not always followed and 95% of the time does not work. So even though Actos is prescribed for diabetes he prescribed it for my pre-diabetes. I think that will stave off it. The doc even said I could lose weight by taking it, however I notice a side effect listed is actually weight gain. We shall see. The other one is niaspan. It is basically a vitamin and I am supposed to take it at night for high LDL. I can see why as it makes your face flush. I am not sure this is wise with rosacea but we shall see.
So you might think, wow Brian is heavily prescribed and is in bad health. It is actually the reverse. I am in excellent health. My blood pressure is now normal, usually 116/76. I no longer have chronic heartburn, rosacea or depression. My triglycerides are normal and my blood sugar will soon be normal. Can all of you "dieters" and "exercisors" say that? Do you even know what your levels are? It always boggles my mind how people who think they are "healthy" have no real idea if they are healthy or not. Only a doctor can say. My fear is not dying young but dying old. I think I could live to be over 100 and at that point I wonder if I will be pleasant to be around. I am not a hyochondriac because I don't think there is anything wrong with me. I actually think I am just fine.
I don't think I need to have any major lifestyle changes either. I am tired of doing that. I need to get into the old age stasis. Once we get accustomed to our patterns and habits our bodies usually overadjust accordingly. It is the adjustment that needs to be lessened. Our bodies aren't good at adjustments. If I started seriously dieting and exercising I would have to do that for the rest of my life and eventually my body will get used to it and adjust backwards. It is better to get to stasis and occaisionally eat low calorie food and occaisionally exercise. It seems to be working so far as I have lost 20 pounds without even trying. See I notice people in assisted living do the exact same thing every day. However, retirement looks kind of boring to me know. I think it is better just play with kids and get exercise chasing them around. Now that's fun.
