Today I shall talk about social networks. People often wonder what is the deal with Twitter. There are alot of people who just don't get it. Yet, companies have jumped on the bandwagon and now they put their Facebook address along with their Twitter account. Twitter gives the world instant access to anything you have to say and it gives you instant access to what the world has to say. Think of of it like Facebook without the apps. But it is even more. I know I post to Facebook maybe once a month. I kind of have stopped using it just because no one is saying anything interesting anymore. It is like when you first meet an old friend you catch up with them and then after that you are like ,soo, ummm, what's new? Facebook has that awkwardness about it.

Now I have just been getting into Twitter. Not for what I can say, but for what others say. You can follow anyone on Twitter, like politicians, news sources, famous people or people who share the same hobbies and desires as you do. You don't have to say a word. You can just read what they have to say. It can happen in real time as well. If there is instant news you can see it as it posts. Twitter is a way of having status updates on everything. In order to get real time updates you have to "Follow" a person. For instance my Twitter ID is FreeVerge. If someone follows me then they will get the messages I tweet on their page.

I like following tech news sources because that is what I am into. Like I follow techcrunch, forbestech and cnn. I follow star wars and mst3k. I follow Brent Spiner and Leo Laporte. The more people you follow the more status updates you see. It is fun to see what other people say. It is like Brent Spiner(played Data in Star Trek) is my friend. I think that is what the appeal of Twitter is. Most people who don't "get it" have never tried playing with it. Both of them, Twitter and Facebook, have their uses as a comminication medium. To learn to use them is very empowering. And that's all I've got to say about that. For now.
