Love is More Powerful than Hate
I guess I have been thinking about good vs evil alot lately, so I am going to give a lesson in todays post. I have been thinking about it probably cause of the movies and also because of the news about nine eleven protests and tea parties. I have been reading realcourage.org. - http://www.realcourage.org - It is a good site that exposes the hatred everywhere in the world. It shows that we in America have some growing to do. First, as a Christian I have to say that those hate groups do not represent my religion at all. Westboro Baptist Church is not Baptist and is not affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. There are other supposed Christian hate groups around Dallas. They are the ones who protest at mosques and hand out pamphlets calling others sinners first and foremost. It is sad that their pamphlets do have some biblical truth in it, but there is no temperance in its delivery. Salvation is glossed over just to point out sinners. It seems to me that extremists are getting louder. I think it is time for non-extremists to get louder. I think it is time for a revival of morals, ethics, decency, humility and respect for others.
As a Christian who follows the Bible we have to understand that we are not supposed to inflict our own will upon others. We are supposed to be humble, respectful, loving and pray for our enemies, not attack them. I know as an evangelical we would be jerks if we didn't warn others about the burning afterlife to those who don't believe, however we need to do it with love not hate. Instead those rabble rousers are giving normal Christians a bad name and putting others off of coming to Christ. I doubt anyone is being saved by being harassed. I leave with 1 Peter 3:13-17. This passage is clear that we are not to prostelyze in anger or an in your face attitude. Peace to all.
13 Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, 15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, 16 having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. 17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil.
