T-Shirt to the Rescue

So people now think I am setting up a cockpit in my cube. Due to my recent carpal tunnel in my left hand and ulnar neuropathy in my right hand I have now been allowed to bring in a keyboard and mouse. So I go online and get an Evoluent verticle mouse and a Microsoft 4000 ergonomic keyboard. I have to admit this is making a world of difference. You never notice how much your hands, wrists and elbows move when you have a regular keyboard and mouse. I think the damage to my nerves happened alot this past year as I went through over 360,000 lines of code. Remember, the average developer is supposed to write only 10 lines of code a day.

So I am now wearing my heelbo elbow pads and typing on my keyboard with wristgaurd and mousing sideways. I have very little movement in my arms. I hope this does the trick. The doc gave me anti-inflamitories. I have four weeks to go to where he decides if I need to specialist and probably get surgery for it. All I know I want it fixed. I don't care about my job as much as I care about my career. My hands are my livelihood. I did find a foot pedal mouse online though, so if worse came to worse I would mouse with my feet.

It is kind of weird wearing these heelbos on my elbows. It looks like I am playing football or hockey. I told a group of people that it also looks like I am a preppy who wears t-shirts underneath my regular shirt. Then I noticed the people I was talking to all had t-shirts underneath. For me that would just be too hot. I mean it is a shirt that should not be seen anyways. What does the undershirt bring to the table? It's not like guys need to hold anything in or prevent things from moving around. I wonder. Is it a status symbol? Hey look at me, I have two shirts on. OR is it like Superman. By day, a humble programmer, by night a redneck. If I hear the startup of a lawnmower I take the outer shirt off and I am ready for action. Eh, maybe not.
